Our variety of courses are designed to be highly effective yet enjoyable, helping your child gain confidence and build their skills with games, tuition and question practice for verbal reasoning, non verbal reasoning, maths, comprehension and creative writing.
Our typical course will teach study techniques, interview skills, time management, exam hints, problem solving and critical thinking skill. Topics will not be repeated so it is highly recommended that your child attends each and every day of the course to ensure maximum benefit.
We believe that the key to success is not just to educate, but to foster in children a keen desire to learn, enabling them to improve and progress quickly and efficiently. We place on emphasis on keeping enthusiasm and self-esteem at the highest levels possible, as this can prove the difference between success and failure on the day of an examination. Taught by teachers with over 10 years of experience preparing students for entrance exams; detailed feedback on your child’s progress will be provided at the end of the course.

What is the Online 5 Day 11+ Summer Course?
Our Online 11+ Summer Courses are built to provide your child with all the information, techniques and confidence required to be a successful candidate for your chosen schools’ entrance exams. The online course is different to the classroom course in several ways:
The course is split and now covers two subjects over five days, with learning sessions split in to 3 separate hourly classes to provide them with plenty of break and rest time. This way, we can make sure topics are covered thoroughly, while also reducing children's exposed screen time per day to optimal levels. For each course, this means that for 5 days your child can study either:
English with Verbal Reasoning
Maths with Reasoning
You can choose which of these options you want your child to study in a given week (see dates below) - materials to supplement all online classes plus additional practice exercises will be posted to your address before the start of the course. The full four subjects can also be studied over two consecutive weeks and we will give you ample notice should we amend any dates or schedules in this respect. We have made these changes to maintain small, effective groups online and to give you the choice between maths or English over alternating weeks.
Over the 5 days, your child will revise and harness their skills in a virtual classroom environment, filling in any remaining gaps in knowledge and bringing their existing knowledge to a more advanced level. The course is based upon the most popular topics for the entrance exams; mathematics, creative writing, comprehension, exam technique, interview practice, reasoning skills are all covered.
Mock/assessment tests are given at the beginning and end of the course, enabling you to see where your child at the outset, and then gain insight as to how they progressed throughout the course. It also allows us to pinpoint any of your child’s sticking points, as well as their general strengths/weaknesses, so we can best provide help in reaching their potential.
These 5-day intensives are perfect for making the most of your child’s summer holidays, especially as so many students have missed out in schooling over the past months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the intensive tuition, the virtual class environment and lesson structure is designed to be fun and engaging. This means that your child will be happy to learn, and more often than not, leave with a smile on their face and hopefully some new friends.
How is the course delivered?
The Online version of the 8 Week 11+ Summer Course is controlled by our teaching managers, with instruction given by experienced tutors, who follow our programmes closely, ensuring the best service possible. Students take live online classes with a tutor in small groups of 2-4 students, which ensures a dynamic environment for children to learn and also allows for each child to receive enough attention.
For class sessions, we make use of an online interactive whiteboard alongside online video calling via Google Meet, Skype or Zoom. This tried and tested method is very easy to use – and thanks to our years of experience working with students internationally, we now have a track record of effective online tuition with children from ages 8 to 18 in many subjects. The only pre-requisite for this course is that the student must be going into year 5 or year 6. This means that the material is suitable as well as making sure they are mature enough to engage online comfortably.
Advances in digital technology have been empowering for the educational sphere and children are usually more engaged and get more attention from our online classes than they would anywhere else (including school!) For this reason, our lessons are delivered online in small groups of 2 – 4 children. This range enables the teachers to give one-to-one support whilst maintaining the group dynamic which adds support and encouragement from peers. Children tell us they like meeting other children from different schools who are also sitting the exam – working in a group helps children to become more comfortable and confident in a shorter time-frame. Each week consists of 120 minutes of online teaching time and is divided into topics: half the session is dedicated to maths and non-verbal reasoning, with the second half focusing on English and verbal reasoning. The classes are usually split into sessions lasting an hour each. Timing/technique sessions may be held in a larger group to provide an exam-like ‘atmosphere’ and to enable your child to learn to focus under timed conditions.
How is the online course structured?
Each day we teach 3 different topics or skills from the 11 Plus test, according to our structured program and the 11 Plus syllabus. Students are instructed in techniques showing them how to answer questions in the correct way, giving them the means to handle any new type of problem as they progress. From the materials sent beforehand, homework also forms a linchpin of the course, with students completing weekly tasks, based on the instruction from each class session.
Additionally, children will be given interview experience to complete the checklist of essential aspects required to face the examinations. We carry out ongoing assessment throughout all of our courses, so we can let you know how likely it is for your child to pass, where they struggle, and under which circumstances success that will be most likely. We may suggest supplemental instruction via one-to-one classes if deemed necessary, and operate a strict policy whereby we only continue tuition for children who are suitable in terms of ability, potential and personality.
