What is 7+ exam preparation? The 7+ exam preparation is a holistic approach to the 7+ exams. The 7+ primarily tests maths and English. However, a growing number of schools also include a reasoning assessment. The 7+ assessment is used for entry into year 3. Children sit the exam in year 2.
What is the purpose of 7+ exam preparation? This course encompasses different aspects of the 7+ assessment including maths, English, verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and interview skills. Children will also participate in other assessment formats including hands-on and creative tasks as well as teamwork activities. This course teaches children about the expectations of the 7+ assessment from exam performance to behaviour and social skills.
The importance of attending 7+ exam preparation: The 7+ assessment is an increasingly competitive method of assessment for entry into private schools, particularly across top schools in London. On average, ten children will compete for every one place offered at a school. Despite the fact that schools will be seeking children with a range of skills and interests, the primary method of assessment is through the examination and subsequent interview. The 7+ exam preparation course covers different aspects of the 7+ assessment from examination technique, examination practice, teamwork activities, interview practice and confidence building.

What we teach: This face-to-face course has been designed for children to enjoy, have fun and learn. Our face-to-face creative writing autumn courses are small. The rationale behind having small groups is to enable tutors and children greater scope for interaction, dialogue, questions and answers. We also stimulate children to be creative. We teach children to learn how to identify a problem and look for a solution. We also foster the development of resilience. Sometimes, some children tend to give up easily. We teach children that they need to try for alternate solutions to a given problem in a logical and creative way.
Academic impact: This course is designed to challenge and support children accordingly through their 7+ journey within a small group setting. Children are encouraged to consolidate their knowledge in mathematics and English and learn beyond the school syllabus. This course also develops children’s reasoning skills through regular practice and challenging tasks. This course also fosters the interpersonal skills of children such as confidence and communication which is expected for successful examination performance. Children will become familiar with techniques to facilitate successful revision and a strong examination performance.
Differentiation: At Richer Education, we understand that ‘one size does not fit all‘. Therefore, our tutors and mentors differentiate the content of our sessions. We ensure that all children, regardless of their level of knowledge, are engaged at the appropriate level and pace.
